When you open the CS:GO shop menu, you’ll be greeted by a plethora of weapons. Although money won’t be an issue if you’ve been winning rounds after rounds without dying, there will be times when you need to be cautious with your spending.
To preserve your economy for the later stages of the match, you’ll want to spend your money wisely. You can choose not to buy a gun or buy one of the best in the game and try to turn the tides in your favor.
Some guns simply outperform the rest of the CS:GO arsenal. You’ll be able to tell the difference between the best and the rest once you’ve tasted excellence, whether by dealing more damage or having a more stable recoil.
Because the best weapons are so expensive, it’s not always a good idea to keep buying them every round. There will be times when you will want to forego purchasing better weapons in order to build a better economy to use when capturing the momentum in a match. Here are the best CS:GO weapons.
AWP
With good reason, the AWP is one of the most expensive weapons in CS:GO. It is the only gun capable of one-shotting enemies via body shots. This ability means you won’t have to focus your attention on trying to land headshots, which is usually the most difficult place to aim.
Because it’s a sniper rifle, you’ll only have one shot to work with in high-stress situations. If you don’t have enough space between you and the enemy, you might be unable to fire the second shot. Despite its shortcomings, the AWP is an excellent tool mostly used to secure perimeters.
Most teams benefit from having an AWP player side by side. On the other hand, having two can be a double-edged sword, so there may be times when you should hold off on purchasing an AWP if your team already has one.
AK-47
The T side will be under pressure to move around the map, depending on the map. After all, they’re the ones racing against the clock, which can be stressful at times. To deal with the stress, the T side has the best assault rifle in CS:GO. Even CT players don’t hesitate to pick it up when they see it lying on the ground, demonstrating how superior it is to CT assault rifles.
Even if your opponents are wearing armor or a helmet, headshots will allow you to one-shot them. The AK-47 has a good fire rate and does a lot of damage, but it can sometimes be difficult to control. So unless you’re in a close-range situation with your enemy only a few steps away, you should avoid spraying with an AK-47.
M4A4
When playing on the CT side, the M4A4 is the closest thing to an AK-47. However, because of its lower recoil, this CT rifle is considered more versatile than the AK-47. In addition, spraying with the M4A4 is easier than spraying with the AK-47.
The M4A4 isn’t the most powerful weapon, but once you start connecting shots, it’s much easier to switch over to other enemies. Along with its low recoil, the high fire rate deserves some recognition. Though the M4A4 is the best assault rifle on the CT side, you should still pick up an AK-47 if possible.
The Desert Eagle
If there was a price-to-performance ratio for CS:GO guns, the Desert Eagle might be at the top of the list. It’s a pistol, but it can deal more damage in a single shot than most SMGs and assault rifles. It is comparable to the AWP of pistols.
The Desert Eagle, like the AWP, has a small animation after each shot, indicating that it isn’t one of the fastest firing pistols available. It is mostly picked up by players with high accuracy and is usually paired with an AWP. Though some players prefer to support their AWP with more versatile pistols, none match the AWP-Desert Eagle combo’s deadliness.
M4A1-S
Because the M4A1-S lacks the speed of the M4A4, taking down multiple enemies in seconds is more difficult. However, the M4A1-S is more effective over longer distances. The weapon’s lower recoil rate makes it more accurate than the M4A4 in long-range scenarios, and the silencer comes in handy if you’re shooting from cover.
AUG
The AUG may be past its prime, but it remains the preferred weapon of players who place a premium on accuracy above all else. Aside from sniper rifles, there aren’t many scoped options in CS:GO, so the AUG is a great option for anyone who enjoys assault rifles and scopes.
The AUG’s scope increases its versatility and makes it a strong option for guarding long corridors. While sniper rifles can do the same thing, your enemies will sometimes rush toward you. When rushed, the AUG’s rapid-fire rate comes into play and helps take down enemy players in quick succession.
SG-553
While the M4A4 is not an exact replica of the AK-47, the AUG and SG-553 are. Both weapons have similar traits, meaning anyone who enjoys the AUG has a viable option on the T side.
Even though the SG-553 and the AUG have similar characteristics, the SG-553 has fewer applications. When you’re on the T side, you’re the one who has to make plays. You won’t be able to sit back and wait for your opponents on the T side to make a move. This means that the SG-553 may be a very limited weapon on the T side because you won’t have many chances to use its scope.
UMP SMGs aren’t popular at the higher levels of CS:GO, but you might need to use one if money is tight. The UMP is classified as an SMG but can also be used as an assault rifle.
With its low price, the UMP is an excellent alternative to an assault rifle to try out. Its slower fire rate makes it easy to control while still performing well in the medium range. While it will never be as effective or useful as an assault rifle, the UMP is the best alternative and most user-friendly SMG.
